Once his army is gone from Italy, attack and take Taras whilst it is mostly unguarded. Turtle up for a few turns, build up a decent army with a cheaper - missile / light infantry back-up army, and wait for Epirus to send his Taras army across the Ionium sea into Greece. You may even consider expanding further north to the Alps and take all of Cisalpina, while the province is still dived among the three factions (Liguria, Insubres, and Veneti). once you upgrade Latium, you will start raking in the money. (so you can get the public order or commerce edict). I just don't see how it's possible to fight a two-front war when Epirus seems to be able to pull troops out of its ass and I do not have the money (Or buildings, in the case of Italy) or time to recruit enough men.įocus on the Etruscans, take Arretium, and secure the whole province of Latium. As icing on the cake, they then run on down and destroy my laughably weak second army. I managed to beat their army, but then another one shows up from the ocean and takes over another city just as I manage to get the other one back. So by they time I finished the Etruscans, Epirus starts walking all over my southern cities, while my main army is stuck way up in north Latium. My best run so far had me recruit a full stack as fast as possible and rush down the Etruscans, which worked well enough, but didn't have the money left over to build up any useful second army. I don't have the money or time to build 2 full armies before either Epirus, Venetia, or the Etruscans decide it's time to invade. I can't seem to find any way of starting out as Rome in DeI. This is going to get a bit ranty because I've tried 5 times today and everything starts collapsing by turn 12 or earlier. Think we missed one?
